04:46 pm - New Objectivism Community Group in San Diego
Hi, my name is Christopher Luntkowski-Stojewa and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in an Objectivism community group. Myself and Shekhar Deshpande are starting an Objectivism community group here in the San Diego area and we're looking for others who appreciate Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Our first meeting will be a dinner at the Grand Del Mar this Thursday, the 27th, at six o'clock. We will actually be meeting in the hotel lobby where they serve drinks and appetizers. We chose to meet here because we will be able to talk in the lobby.

The resort's address is 5299 Meadows Del Mar, San Diego, CA 92130. To get to the lobby, go up the resort's driveway, past the security gates, take the first right and follow this road to get to the lobby. Shekhar has offered to pay for all but 20$ of each person's meal.

Shekhar and I have agreed that we'd like three basic activities to be a part of our community group: socializing, discussion, and political activism. How much time we spend doing these comes down to what the members of our group would like, these activities are merely what Shekhar and I are interested in. Thus the activities our group will do will be discussed at our first meeting.

If you're interested in this group, please e-mail me and let me know. And if you're interested in coming to the first meeting this Thursday, let me know as soon as possible.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to let me know.

My e-mail is: cluntkow@uci.edu

That's Friday, January 21st @ 7PM, Barnes & Noble of Mira Mesa, special area
toward front of store. Parking Tip: You'll find it easiest to park in the other shopping center
(because it doesn't have a movie theater!), by the Rubio's & Jamba or
down toward the Home Depot.

01:17 pm - THURSDAY 6PM: Against The Brandens' Biographies!
This event tonight looks certainly interesting -- from at least a couple
perspectives.

I plan to be there.

George ( georges_AT_pixelblip.com ) writes:

There is to be an informal champagne
reception, and I have heard rumors of some
possible pre-release copies of the book.

The San Diego Civil Liberties Society is putting
on a talk with the author of "The Passion of Ayn
Rand's Critics," James Valiant. James, one of the
first people allowed to review a good portion of
Ayn's personal writing, will be discussing his
forthcoming book, Thursday January 20th at 6pm.
San Diego County Bar Association Building, 1333
Seventh Ave, SD. (3rd floor in Bar Café.)

If you are interested, please let me know. CSPAN
should be there and it would be nice to have
smiling faces.

04:56 am - San Diego Futurists October 1st
I am pleased to announce that Mike
Korns,Artifical Intelligence Innovator and moderator of the Las
Vegas Futurists, has agreed to give his talk on Loop Quantum
Gravity. Here is the teaser:

"Can we finally unify the large and the small? Unify the behavior
of
plantary bodies under gravity with the behavior of subatomic
particles under quantum theory? Come and find the answer!

Since the recent introduction of String Theory, M-theory, and now
Loop Quantum Gravity, separate groups of physicists are claiming
they each have the answers necessary to unify gravity with quantum
theory.

To date, no experimental validation exists. But soon, we will have
experimental results... Michael Korns will give an overview of the
three new theories of quantum gravity. The implications for our
everyday lives will amaze you."

12:00 pm - The Future of SD Futurists
Jessica was last seen being smuggled out of San Diego by a pack of
bears in odd gold and blue outfits. This leaves us, Rob and Star, as
your new happy-go-lucky moderators. In honor of this, Labor Day,
and the fact that no plans to the contrary have been made, SD
Futurists will not be meeting this coming Friday.

SD Futurists will be returning next month to focus on Extreme
Physics!
